Philippines will now have its
largest wind farm, as the geothermal and renewable energy producer Energy
Development Corporation will complete the 150 Megawatts Burgos Wind Project in the
Ilocos Norte end of November.
"We are targeting to complete the 150-MW
[wind farm] by end-November 2014," the executive vice president of
EDC Ernesto Pantangco told in a text message.
The groundbreaking for Burgos
Wind Project happened last April of 2013 while Construction for initial 87 Megawatts
capacity of the wind farm started last June of 2013.
The said recently closed the USD315 million loan from the foreign and
local banks for completion of the wind farm project.
When the project is is completed,
Burgos Wind Project will be the largest wind farm in Philippines, with total of
50 large—scale Vestas V90-3.0MW wind turbines.
The said project is one of the
largest investments in Ilocos Norte as it occupies 600 hectare site covering
three Barangays in Burgos, Ilocos Norte.
