Philippine Defense Department to hold bidding for the Acquisition of Php5.4 Billion Anti-Submarine Choppers

The Philippine Defense Department will again hold bidding for supply of the two anti—submarine helicopters that has a budget worth Php5.4 billion.

The said anti—submarine Choppers are primarily ship—based helicopters with the mission essential equipment. The anti—submarine helicopters are expected to strengthen military’s maritime security capabilities as the choppers can be immediately be deployed to safeguard country’s maritime resources.


Its first bidding has failed due to inability of the bidders to meet documentary requirements.

Another bid bulletin was signed by the Defense Undersecretary Ecarma III said that the bidding would be held in two stages using criteria specified by procurement law.

The two—stage bidding usually applicable to big—ticket an item that requires scrutiny of the technical teams. First stage, the officials determine who among the bidders are qualified to submit the offers. Second stage will determine which qualified suppliers are most responsive to the said requirements.


Deadline for submission of the first stage bids is on October 21. Bids will be opened same day. schedule for second stage of the bidding will be announced later.
