The most powerful typhoon this
year is heading towards Japan, the Super Typhoon Vongfong, with a Philippine
name "Ompong," rapidly intensified this was according to United
States Joint Typhoon Watch Center and PAGASA.
Tropical cyclone expected to
reach its peak and pack a maximum sustained winds 260 kilometers per hour 314
kph before it slams southern Japan.
To compare, super typhoon Haiyan
(Yolanda) had one-minute maximum sustained winds of 230 kph and 315kph gusts
just before it caused havoc in the Philippines.
Vongfong will not hit Philippines
and will have its landfall in Japan expected day will be Sunday, according to JTWC.
The cyclone is very far to affect
part of Philippines, this was said by PAGASA official. "However,
it is expected to enhance the northeasterly winds that will result in rough sea
conditions off Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern
Luzon."
"Fisherfolks and those using small
seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards,"
PAGASA said.
