The prosecutors of the state appealed
to Sandiganbayan to reverse decision allowing Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. a
Senator to remain in police custodial center instead of regular jail, citing “successful”
incarceration of two high-profile detainees in pork barrel scam, including the alleged
mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.
In a consolidated reply to comment
an opposition to Senator Revilla and his co-accused Richard Cambe, prosecutors
said that the accused could not pose as high-risk detainees who should not be
detained in a regular jail since Napoles and another high-risk prisoner are
detained in one.
Senator Revilla cited lack of
manpower and capability of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology
(BJMP)-administered by the jails to secure him as the trial for plunder over
the pork barrel scam.
The government prosecutors maintained
the, or Republic Act of 6975 or “Department of Interior and Local Government
Act,” is clear that those who are facing trial should be detained in a
BJMP-administered facility.
“To rule otherwise would create a
double standard in the application of our laws which is inimical to the orderly
administration of justice and to public interest,” the motion read.
