United States, Philippine Mutual Defense Board to meet on defense issues

The high—ranking Philippine and United States military officials will meet on a bilateral defense issues in shadow of the recent case that has given the nationalist groups a cause to revive its call to disallow the American troops from country: “the death of a transgender”, homicide involving US soldier.

The public affairs chief of the Armed Forces of Philippines' said that the Mutual Defense Board—Security Engagement Board (MDB-SEB) conference will focus on the mutual security concerns in order to demonstrate the increased bilateral commitment to the 63 year old Defense Treaty between Philippines and United States, signed 1951.


Key issues that will be discussed are the Mutual Defense, Combating Terrorism, Maritime Security, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HA/DR), Philippine Defense Reform (PDR), Civil—military Operations (CMO), Transnational Crimes, Peacekeeping (PKO), and Cyber Security.


The AFP Chief of Staff General chairs the Philippine delegation. And his counterpart and co—chairman is Admiral Locklear III, the Commander of U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM).
