The project Threads of Hope
colorful bracelets may look just an ordinary friendship bands that every young
kids trade with other kids, but thanks to “Threads of Hope”, the poor families
in Philippines are will be given an opportunities to make a steady income and keep
their kids away from possible prostitution.

project initiated by Chris Kuhlow and Alex
of the Calvary Bible Church in Neenah. The ministry now has a base in Puerto
Galera, Philippines.
Missler said that the project was
founded 11 years ago when missionary couple realized that young Filipina girls forced
into prostitution in order to support their families.
“So they began to buy bracelets
from a girl by the name of Elona, and their first purchase was a hundred dollars.
They then got 1,300 of the little round bracelets from Elona,” Marilyn of
Threads of Hope said, “They then took those bracelets to states and
sold them, realized what profit potential was and how it could help families
took the profit back to Elona.”
USD1,000 was made from initial
investment of hundred dollars. Missler says that all they wanted to do was to
help the family escape from poverty and prostitution.
