Aquino - Php90.86 Billion to boost Philippine defense

The Philippine government set aside Php90.86 billion for the country to sustain implementation of military defense modernization program until the year 2017; this was announced by the Philippine President Aquino.

President also shared government’s initiatives to upgrade military capacity and its equipment at 75th anniversary of Department of National Defense in the Camp Aguinaldo.
“As to date, the process of the DND Medium Term Capability Development Program is ongoing as what the Revised AFP Modernization Law said,” Said by Aquino.


Government already spent Php41.38 billion on the 46 various military modernizations and other capability upgrade projects dated June of 2010 to October of 2014. President Aquino took the pride that his administration surpassed 45 combined projects of the three previous administrations since the year 1995.

”We still have one year and seven months left so I’m much certain that we will complete more projects,” Aquino said.

2013 alone, president Aquino said that 12 projects, including purchase of the two modern ships, the three naval helicopters, and the eight combat utility helicopters, were already completed under AFP modernization program.

He welcomed formation of Philippine Defense Transformation Roadmap 2028 to ensure all the reform initiatives will surely be implemented.
