The KD Tun Razak Submarine successfully
implemented a Black Shark torpedo firing in waters of South China Sea. Shooting
from the strategic asset of the Royal Malaysian Navy has successful on target
surface of passenger ferry that was modified for the test fire purposes. The Torpedo
launched at predetermined distance right on the target to destroy and sink it.
The reported shooting has been a
historic times by the Malaysian Navy, as the inaugural submarine torpedo firing
since nation's first submarine KD Tunku Abdul Rahman arrived in Port of Klang September
3 of 2009. This shooting is for the first time since the Black Shark torpedo
was introduced by the manufacturers WASS Whitehead Alenia Sistemi torpedo
subacquee of Italy.
The Malaysian Navy shooting
operation which naval assets help services and the Royal Malaysian Air Force as
asset for security of area, team goals, recording and its strategic analysis.
Among its assets involved JEBAT KD, Terengganu KD, Kasturi KD, LAKSAMANA TAN
PUSMAH KD, Fennec helicopter, submarine MEGA rescue ship Designation and the CB
90 Tempur Bot and Tim Divers.
The secretary of Development MOD,
Tuan Haji Shahbudin Ibrahim and the Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Hon Dato
'Mohamad Ramli witnessed the recent shooting operation of EC 725 aircraft
platform in South China Sea. The Torpedo—firing exercises named as Op BARRACUDA
run by the Commander of the Submarine Force, Chief Rear Admiral Abdul Ayob as the
Exercise Director.
