The Philippines most Expensive HS building

One of the many accusers of Jejomar Binay said that Makati Science HS Building is also overpriced by 283 percent, making it as the most expensive NHSB (national high school building) in the Philippines.

Speaking before Senate sub-committee inquiry, Atty. Bondal said that the high school building has a total price amounting to Php1.333 billion out of its allocated budget to Php1.5 billion.

Bondal also said that the building located along the Kalayaan Avenue in the Barangay Cembo, and started its construction in the 2007 but only inaugurated February 14 of 2014.

The said HS building has a total of 10 floors with 54 classrooms and total floor area of 18,373sqm.

Bondal said that given a Php1.333 billion price tag, the said building costs Php.72,500 per sqm.

However, based on 2013 prices that was provided by Davis, Langdon and the Seah construction handbook, it said that the cost per square meter should only be Php.25,620.

So Bondal said that this makes the HS school building overpriced at 283%. The building cost should only Php470 million and it is overpriced at Php.862 million.

So therefore each of the classrooms in MSHS (Makati Science High School) will cost Php.24.6 million.
