Senator Santiago said that only
87 hectares of lands in Batangas specifically in Rosario were approved for
conversion, so the senator immediately questions why the property reached to
350 hectares.
Sen. Santiago believed that the
size of hacienda alone indicates a non—compliance with intent of agrarian
reform law, in which was to break up the haciendas and then sell them it to the
farmers. the legality of existence of hacienda - whether 145 — 350 hectares -
under the R.A. No. 6657 (CARL), aka agrarian reform law is already deeply
suspicious, and may involved crimes of the falsification of public documents,
and illegal conversion of the agricultural land.
Santiago brands the statements on
land now as "fairy tale."
"If Mr. Gregorio was not the owner
or farmer—beneficiary, it is presumably that he is somewhat a poseur or fraud.
And Mr. Tiu is surely lying when he claims that he have bought the said land
from this poseur. With this, Tiu is now liable for contempt for telling some
sort of fairy tales," senator said.
Santiago then questioned why the Binay
has pictures of the said improvements of the alleged property if he does not
own it.
Santiago then supported calls to
file cases before Ombudsman so office can turn file cases in the court. She also
believes that probable cause has already been established.
