An agreement on film coproduction
was recently signed by FDCP (Film Development Council Philippines), Cinema
Veritas and Global Motion Pictures Ltd.
The agreement was the result of
the 2 and half years consultation and planning activities with the
international film community in which this result to a production of historical
film. Philippine will play a central role in the film project.
Angelo R. Lauesta an Acclaimed
writer was hired to create a story, in which this will tell the people of
Manila “Manilaners” that Jewish refugees fled in the Philippines during
the World War II, under the leadership of President Quezon.
The film will incarcerate tremendous
trials by the Jewish refugees in Philippines in the year 1930’s, starts from
the unpredictable and dangerous odyssey from Europe across Soviet Union and to
the places such as Hong Kong and Shanghai and to Manila as its final
destination.
The future production of the film
also covers the challenges faced by our nation before it became independent,
this involves historical context during the President Quezon’s administration.
