Big China in Big Trouble

China is having trouble in East, West and center. The leading trouble mark is in northwest of Xinjiang, with attacks against government authorities. China mark those attacks as terrorism, but since news reporting is not allowed, it is impossible to know whether people of Uighur population were seeking separation from China, protesting in opposition to conditions, or engaged in terrorism are all likely.

In its latest violence, dozens were accounted killed when police station and other offices in two towns were attacked by China described as terrorist. Muslim say Chinese defense forces causing incidents by cracking down local activities during Ramadan, their holy month.


Taiwan is also China's nightmare, and added with tension with United States and China's muscling into the East China and South China Seas can be traced to fears over Taiwan. Sovereignty efforts ebb and flow in Taiwan, but the appeal of separatist movement disturbs China.

In Hong Kong, residents long complained China's heavy hand towards its local rule. Now China has promised fresh elections of leadership for Hong Kong, but with a caveat. China will select the aspirants from which Hong Kong voters must choose. In response, Hong Kong residents by the thousands have marched and signed petitions in protest.
