An estimate of 4,000 United
States Navy troops and Philippine Navy will participate in a bilateral air—ground
and amphibious training that will be held in Palawan province end of September.
Called Philbex 15 (Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise). The exercise will start September
29 at West headquarters Naval Forces San Miguel, Puerto Princesa. 3,000 United
States personnel will join and about 1,000 Filipino troops from Philippine Navy
and Marines in the twelve day exercise training, according to a statement from a
Naval Public Affairs Office.
Philbex 15 is set from September
29 to October 10 aimed to improve the interoperability, readiness and the response
to natural disasters or regional contingencies of the participating troops.
First Lieutenant Antonio Belonio
head of Philippine Marines Public affairs said that the training will include command
post training, field exercises with arms and artillery and live fire training
with the amphibious operations, Ship to Shore movement and civil operations for
the military, exercises will be conducted in Luzon.
