Floyd Mayweather once again blast
Manny Pacquiao, not in ring but in the “thrash talking.”
The American took a time to take swipe
to anew at Pacquiao, now focusing on Filipino icon’s financial state and the pay—per—view
marketability.
In a post that he made on his Twitter
and Instagram, Floyd Mayweather included three photos of Manny Pacquiao showing
him on canvass during his fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez in the year 2012.
Pacquiao hit on the deck twice during the said bout, the second one a scary
sight as the Filipino southpaw hit on the floor face—first and became
unconscious.
The post on the social media comes
amid renewed clamor for Mayweather to face Manny Pacquiao in fight seen to be
the richest ever in sport. World Boxing Council recently declared support in megabuck
bout, and Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach called out boxing broadcasters HBO
and Showtime to help the fight happen.
Floyd Mayweather holds record for
most—watched boxing match on PPV, with his 2007 showdown with Oscar Dela Hoya
selling 2.4 million units amounting to USD136 million in revenue. It has surpassed
previous record 1.99 million PPV units by the second bout between Evander
Holyfield and Tyson in 1997.
Pacquiao has seen decline in his
PPV numbers, especially his fight with Brandon Rios in 2013. He is currently
dealing with tax issues both Philippines and US, likely the reason for Floyd Mayweather
mocking him for his purported financial difficulties.
Floyd Mayweather also outpointed Maidana
in their rematch last September 14, and Pacquiao has fight lined up in Macau against
Algieri.
