TALON technology will provide increased in the precision of targets in battle space. Under the USD117 million contract which was awarded to the Raytheon Company. Raytheon Missile Systems began its production of TALON Laser Guided Rockets.

 In the year 2013, Armed Forces General Headquarters of United Arab Emirates awarded Tawazun to a contract to procure TALON Laser Guided Rocket. The "Full rate production of TALON LGR is an momentous milestone for the Raytheon program," said by Darryl Kreitman the TALON program director.


"UAE defense manufacturing industry participated in development of this revolutionary system and the end user can now benefit from this laser guided precision capability."

Under the said contract, Raytheon will maintain a full integration of TALON system in UAE Armed Forces including logistics, training and warranty of support. Raytheon is exploring options integrating TALON on NIMR armored vehicles which are serves in different units of UAE Armed Forces. This year, U.S. Army awarded TALON Air Worthiness Certification on Apache attack helicopter.  

During the TALON's development, Raytheon completed more than 35 TALON firings from AH-64D Apache, resulting to a solution that is ready for international commercial sales customers today.


TALON LGR is a very low—cost digital and semi—active laser guidance that has a control kit co—developed by United Arab Emirates. TALON guidance section fits directly to the front of the legacy 2.75-inch Hydra—70 unguided rocket, TALON a fully compatible weapon with the existing airborne ground laser designations.
