Two Italian Air Force Typhoon jets at supersonic speed to intercept Airbus 320 under bomb threat

The Two Italian Air Force Typhoons jets accelerated to a supersonic speed to intercept Airlines 214 flight to Middle East, the Airbus 320 from Geneva to Beirut.

The two typhoon fighter planes belongs to 4° Stormo (Wing) from the Grosseto in the QRA (Quick Reaction Alert) service round the clock together with those 36° Stormo from Gioia del Colle, were immediately dispatched to intercept a Lebanese plane that have once flying over Bari, in the southeastern of Italy, radioed the Italian Air Traffic Control the request to immediately land at Rome Fiumicino airport, because of bomb threat.


The said two armed Typhoons jets intercepted the Airbus 320 T7—MRC and escorted it to landing on a runway 16R at the airport Fiumicino, then circled at a low altitude over the sea near the airport, until the security forces surrounded the plane and brought it to an isolated parking slot.
