France – No warship delivery to Russia

After the announcement the arrival of four hundred sailors from Russia from western France for the training on the Mistral amphibious ships that will be delivered to Moscow end of this year.

France announced that they will not deliver the under construction warship to the Russians, saying that “were not on place.


The French presidential palace released a statement blaming the Russian sanctions to Ukraine, and the 2 Mistral—class ships will not be delivered to Russia as per stated on the delivery deadline this October. The ship was named Vladivostok, a small aircraft carrier that is appropriate for chopper landing and takeoffs.


Vladivostok is now in the final stage of construction at the French port city shipyard of St. Nazaire.  It is one of two warships France has contracted to build for the Russians and the second was named Sevastapol to be delivered in 2015, but with the statement made no mention of it. The said contract of the two ships is worth USD1.6 billion.
