United States Marines and Philippine Navy to Hold Military Exercises over Luzon

More than 4,000 American and Filipino troops will participate in the large—scale military exercise to be held various areas all over Luzon and Palawan, fronting West Philippine Sea starting September 29.

The Phiblex 15 (Amphibious Landing Exercise 2015), will last until 10 of October, will involve 2,000 United States Marine and United States Navy personnel,” this was said by Commander Marineth Domingo of the Navy public affairs.


From Armed Forces of the Philippines, at least 700 PN (Philippine Navy) personnel will partake in the exercise, while our Army will be sending one platoon from Field Artillery. Air Force likewise provides personnel and platform for simulated close air operations.

The United States contingent is bigger because it is not yet definite, two US Navy ships will be arriving soon,” General Domingo said.

This year Phiblex a new and “bigger one,” will trace footsteps of previous Balikatan and Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) that were held also in Luzon.

The training will be split between the following areas — Marine Base Ternate in Cavite, Naval Education ,Palawan and Training Command (NETC) in San Antonio, Subic, Zambales; Clark Air Field in Pampanga  and Crow Valley in Tarlac.

In Palawan, the military exchanges in amphibious operations, tactical warfare simulation, and maritime security planning, and command post exercise.

NEO (Non—combatant evacuation operations) at Subic and Clark areas, while the mechanized assault operation will at NETC.


“The specific objective of Phiblex, is to develop combat readiness of the forces, Philippines and US forces in the region,” said Domingo.
