VP Binay questioned Commission on Audit on building audit

Vice President Binay’s camp questioned the plan of COA to tap with outsider experts to help its internal auditors conduct special audit on the controversial Parking building in Makati City.

United Nationalist Alliance Secretary General and a Navotas Representative Tobias Tiangco said that Binay camp has no objections towards COA decision on seeking for help of non-COA experts to audit examiners and conduct special audit on the overpriced building in Makati.

Commission on Audit can set its guidelines in conducting a special audit examination. Expectedly and we believe that the guidelines that will be applicable to both parties not on the government’s side only,” Tiangco stated.

The Chairperson of COA Pulido Tan revealed that her team is now on the process of negotiating on non government construction experts to help audit examiners determine the truth about the Makati building.

Tiangco also rebuked Senators Cayetano and Trillanes in their perceptible attempt to misinform public behind the irregularities in the fund disbursements of Makati.

Tiangco also said that Trillanes and Cayetano showed that they are involved in the smear drive towards VP Binay and other members of his family.

Tiangco also deplored repudiation of the two senators to cite Bondal in contempt for lying under the oath and for perjuring himself when he claimed that the birthday cakes distributed by the city government to senior citizens were overpriced and cost over Php1,000 each.

In the preceding Senate hearing, Bondal was confronted with the audit records that city government of Makati paid only P300 per cake.

The lawyer later admitted that he was guessing about the cost of the cake.
