China’s J-15 and J-16 fighters can’t power due to Engine Issues

China was unable to produce its advanced Jets fighters such as J-15 and J-16 in large numbers because it lacks proper engines to power up the said aircraft, this was according to the Moscow—based Military-Industrial Courier

China not even capable of producing the J—11B Jet fighters due to the problems with the Shenyang WS-10A Liming Aircraft Engine Company's engine, a similar problem that led People's Liberation Army Navy to cancel its plan to install WS-10A in J-15, carrier—based fighter that is specially designed to serve aboard the Liaoning Ship, China's first ever aircraft carrier.

China’s PLA Air Force and the Navy Air Force asked to replace WS-10A with more reliable Russian—built AL—31F engines. China was unlikely to get AL—31F engines to power all J—15 and J—16 fighters when the production starts on the aircraft.

The option left for China was to stop producing advanced fighters until they are capable of designing engines to what the aircraft need. This was told from Chinese aviation industry told the Military—Industrial Courier that PLA was losing patience with WS—10A engines, without proper competition among state-run engine producers.

China was unable to design engines that will power its new aircraft. Central Military Commission of Communist Party of China suggested that PLA Air Force will use domestic engines anyway to boost economy.
