Ten out of 21 refurbished “Huey”
helicopters are now delivered at Clark Air Force Base in Pampanga, Angeles City,
this was said by a military observer. The said helicopters are now undergoing
inspection and for flight testing.
The other remaining 11 helicopters
are expected to arrive within the end of this year, said by an observer.
These UH-IH helicopters were
acquired by the Philippine Air Force’s “Huey” fleet that was whittled down to 18
helicopters, from an estimate of 100, due to the airframe aging and unexpected accidents.
The said contract for the said 21 refurbished UH-1Hs estimated worth around Php1.2
billion. The said refurbishment was signed earlier of this year with the Rice
Aircraft Services Incorporated and Canadian company Eagle Copters Ltd.
