Philippine Coast Guard future requirements: helicopters, OPVs and fast patrol boats

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in Capacity Development of Strategic Plan is now prioritizing acquisition of vital floating and air assets that greatly enhance performance of its mandated functions. 

Procurement proceedings are underway for acquisition of :

Ten  40-meter Multi-Role Response Vessel from Japan,

One 54-meter pre-owned naval vessel from France, 

Seven Bell helicopters.




The pipeline procurement of the :

Four 24-meter fast patrol boats 
One 82-meter offshore patrol vessel.

PCG is now in process of procuring equipment purposely for the use during disaster relief and emergency response operations wherein the target is acquire :

Ninety rubber boats,
Eighty RHIB (rigid-hulled inflatable boats)
Three Hundred aluminum-hulled rescue boats and
Six jet ski personal watercraft.

What will Philippine Coast Guard prioritize over the next five years - inter agency cooperation between the Philippine-based organizations, or the regional cooperation between the international organizations? Or both as important as each other?

PCG Coast Watch System as contribution to National Coast Watch System is the main focus and one of the priorities in next five years. Integrated approach not only for PCG but to other government agencies involved in fishery, safety, immigration, security among other concerns. This includes development of Vessel Traffic Management System for all foreign and domestic vessels.
