Philippine Rocket Propelled Grenade RPG-7

The 400 units of Rocket Propelled Grenade will be delivered end of 2014 to replace M18 and M67 recoilless rifles that are currently in service.

The Russian: РПГ-7 or RPG—7 is a shoulder-launched, unguided, portable, anti—tank rocket—propelled grenade launcher. The RPG—7 and its predecessor RPG—2, designed by Soviet Union. Now manufactured by Russian company Bazalt, the weapon has GRAU index 6G3 meaning "rocket-propelled grenade," though frequently encountered and reasonably descriptive, is a backronym for "RPG" and not based on a literal translation.


The, low cost, simplicity, ruggedness and effectiveness of RPG—7 the most widely used anti—armor weapon in the world. 40 countries use the said weapon.


It is also popular with the irregular and guerrilla forces. RPG has been used almost all conflicts across continents since mid—1960s from Vietnam War up to early 2010s War in Afghanistan.
