Philippines speedily becoming an international shipbuilding core

In Tokyo – it says that Philippines quickly become a global shipbuilding center by using skills and the resources of the foreign players. In the year 2010, Philippine surpassed the European rivals, since it become fourth of the biggest shipbuilding nation, after China, SK  and Japan.

Heavy Industries Tsuneishi, subsidiary of Japan Tsuneishi in Fukuyama one of foreign companies building ships in Philippines. THI that is currently operating a large dockyard on west coast of the Cebu Island, a two—hour drive from east coast.

The said shipyard takes 1.47 million sqm. Three times size of Tsuneishi group's shipyard in the Fukuyama. That has 13,000 employees, including its subcontractors that work at the said establishment, and also has 450m dock for the building of vessels.

The Tsuneishi Holdings invested USD562 million in the yard, and celebrated its 20th anniversary last September.

The overseas shipbuilders drive to expand its operations in Philippines is in line with the strategy envisioned by the Manila to become major shipbuilding, part of larger plan in order to develop domestic manufacturing diligence.
