President Aquino show appreciation to Coast Guard for preventing tension in the West Philippine Sea

The Philippine President Aquino III thanked PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) for defending country’s territory and preventing any incidents that may result in a tension in West Philippine Sea.

On the Philippine Coast Guard’s Anniversary celebration in Manila, President Aquino said that he was glad that PCG is closely coordinating with the agencies like Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.


Philippines have standoffs with China in West Philippine Sea over the territorial disputes. Philippine also in tense situations over the arrested poachers in the said area, before the president’s speech, he led the presentation of the awards commendable PCG officers and other personnel. Awardees included “Bosh,” a PCG Labrador that helped in the recovery operations after 7.2-magnitude Bohol earthquake.

During the welcome remarks, the PCG Commandant Rodolfo Isorena thanked President Aquino for the modernization of the agency.

Irosena said that PCG now has 300 additional aluminum boats, 36 staff vehicles, 40 rubber boats and 46 lighthouses.


PCG is looking forward with the 15 new ships from Japan and France, which will be delivered next year, and the two medium—size light helicopters that requested for 2016.
