United States Helos Army Apache Used in Strikes against IS

The army pilots for first time used Apache attack chopper to strike on the Islamist militant targets over Iraq, by CENTCOM.

 “United States military forces used the attack bomber, fighter and the helicopter aircraft to conduct its six airstrikes against the ISIL in Iraq” a CENTCOM official confirmed that the chopper was an Army Apache attack helicopter, but they would not specify where it flew from or what munitions has been used.


The Apaches can fire a Hellfire missiles from significant standoff distance, and capable of “teaming” with manned and unmanned aircraft to share information on its designate targets. July 1, Pentagon announced that they will be sending unspecified number of Apaches to Baghdad to help protect embassy personnel in an increasingly situation against the Islamist extremists allied with Sunni tribes continued to take swaths of territory in the north and west of the country. And also United States military sent RQ—7 Shadow drones to Baghdad.

The said strikes near Fallujah struck two mortar teams characterized as “large ISIL unit and two small ISIL units.”There are about 1,200 United States military personnel in Iraq under war powers resolution said by Pentagon officials, the number that should climb to 1,600 in coming weeks.
