14 killed and 56 hurt in anew clash between PAF - ASG

Yesterday, it was reported that five soldiers from the PAF and nine members from Abu Sayyaf gunmen were immediately killed in a heavy fighting with the Al Qaeda—linked group in hinterlands of Sulu.

Colonel Arrojado, the Joint Task Group Sulu commander, said that 26 soldiers were wounded in the reported fire—fight that erupted at Barangay Bud—Bungao in Talipao town. Intelligence reports indicate that 30 bandits or more were injured.


The operating troops that composed of four officers and a 74 enlisted personnel from Headquarters and Headquarters Company and 1st Scout Ranger Company were conducting law enforcement—operations when they have encountered an estimate of 300 Abu—Sayyaf under Sahiron, Sawadjaan, and Ekit.

Col. Arrojado said that five soldiers have paid the ultimate sacrifice, while the 26 others were also wounded in a five—hour gun battles.


According to reports in the area, at least 9 member from the ASG were killed including Asbang the ASG sub—leader.
