A total of eleven top officials
of Firearms and Explosive Office of Philippine National Police and others face
criminal investigation before Office of Ombudsman for allegedly selling more
than 1,000 AK-47 rifles to New People’s Army.
Dir. Gil Meneses, Dir Napoleon
Estilles, Chief Superintendent Petrasanta, Chief Supt. Rentoy II, Chief Supt. Catiis,
Senior Supt. Acierto, Senior Supt. Parreno, Supt. Bautista, Chief Inspector Sumalde,
Chief Inspector Zapata Jr., and Chief Inspector Benedicto Sarmiento charged
with the falsification of the public documents, graft and corruption, and for
the violation of Private Security Agency Law.
Other authorities were also included
in criminal complaints were Senior Police Officer 1 Tan, SPO1 De Sesto, and
three non—uniformed personnel of FEO as well as Lozada of Caraga Security
Agency and the representatives of gun supplier of Twin Pines, Inc.
Ombudsman Carpio Morales formed a
five—lawyer panel to conduct the preliminary investigation and the administrative
adjudication.
The administrative charges for the
grave misconduct and the dishonesty were filed against FEO officials, with prayer
that they will be preventively suspended pending administrative adjudication.
The Philippines anti—graft
agency’s Military and Law Enforcement Offices initiated own case build—up based
on media report.
