Potential Super Storm to hit Philippines

The Philippine State weather PAGASA said that tropical storm with the international name ''Hagupit'' is now on track that is set to enter Philippine area of responsibility between Thursday —Friday.

The PAGASA forecaster said that “Hagupit” was then headed towards eastern portion of Philippines, packing a maximum sustained 75 kilometers per hour winds and gusts 90 kph as of Tuesday.

Javier said that the scenario of the storm is to skirt Philippines and move in the direction of Japan due to high pressure presence in the area northeast of Philippines and strengthening northeast monsoon, which brings cold winds with unfavorable development of weather disturbance.

The forecaster explained that weather disturbance needs ‘26 degrees Celsius sea surface temperature in order to grow stronger’.

Most likely the scenario for Philippines is for ‘Hagupit’ to re—curve on the way to Japan which will avoid hitting Philippine landmass due to Anti—cyclone (HPA).

Hagupit spotted 2,485 km east Mindanao and will be named ''Ruby'' once it enters PAR.

According to JTWC forecasts ‘Hagupit’ to strengthen 240 kph December 6, when it near Philippines.
