China oppose Pentagon warplane allegation

China dismissed Pentagon statement in its accusation on Chinese fighter jet flew too close to a United States Military aircraft in Hainan Island.

United States Rear Admiral Kirby had that “armed Chinese plane came close to American surveillance aircraft not just one but three times, flying underneath the US plane and then parallel with its wingtips, less than nine meters apart.

China's defense spokesman Yujun called it "totally groundless" in a statement cited by Xinhua China news agency, lashing out American military for conducting its surveillance operations close to Chinese waters.

Yang said that the jet pilot was in a safe distance making regular checks on the surveillance aircraft during the latest confrontation in international waters about 220 kilometers east of the Hainan island.

It was the US and its "frequent and massive close-in surveillance of China" that endangered our air and marine security.

Beijing and Washington have long disagreed over maritime and aviation rights in strategic South China Sea, with Americans insisting the area is part of international airspace and waters.

China argues it is part of the country's "exclusive economic zone."
