Military to deploy tourist ship in West Philippine Sea

Philippine Military officials were thinking on the possible deployment of cruise ship for tourist who wants to see the disputed areas of West Philippine Sea.

General Catapang the newly installed AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) chief of staff said that the planned cruise ship will travel around the six islands, these includes Lawak, Ayunging Shoal, Patag, Lawak and Pagasa Islands.

"We will be able to hopefully deploy cruise ship because that strategy was being done by other countries (claimant). They have organized a tourism effort to go around its islands that they possess," Catapang said.

Investors on the said project will be assisted by the Philippine Military, “This can be a public or a private partnership if we are able to develop the area,"

"I challenged them (my colleague in service) to make Palawan the next most prosperous province in the country. Palawan has lot of prospective, especially if we can develop its area that we now possess as tourism destination," Catapang said.
