Pentagon - China warplane dangerously intercepted United States Navy Jet

Chinese Jet fighter flies terrifyingly close to a United States aircraft in a “very dangerous” unpleasant incident in intercontinental air space east of Hainan Island.

The recent event raised another underlined and tensions to the growing rivalry between United States and China, as Beijing building up military bases asserting its protective claims transversely to the Pacific.

“August 19, armed Chinese fighter jet performed a dangerous intercept on a United States Navy Poseidon patrol P-8 aircraft that was on its routine mission,” Rear Admiral Kirby told in a news conference.

The close encounter was about 220 kilometers east China’s Hainan.

We have recorded our strong apprehension to the Chinese about its unprofessional and unsafe intercept, which posed threat to the safety of the air crew and was inconsistent with customary international law,” Kirby added.

The Chinese move threatened to jeopardize longstanding United States efforts to strengthen relations with China’s military.

The armed Chinese plane came close to our surveillance aircraft three times, flying underneath our American plane, at P-8′s nose and then in parallel with its  wingtips, less than nine meters apart, according to Kirby.
