The North Korea and South Korea again
exchanged gunfire October 19, 2014 Sunday when North soldiers approached military
border and did not retreat after South fired several warning shots, this was
said by the South Korean Defense Ministry.
North Korean soldiers fired back
in exchange of the gunfire that has lasted 10 minutes but as of now the
situation did not rise, said by the ministry official.
"No casualties or property damage,"
official said.
The said incident was the latest
in series of confrontations in weeks between rival Koreas that remain
technically at war and follows urgent meeting between the senior military
officials October 22 to discuss solution to ease tensions.
A North soldiers on October 18
approached so—called Military Demarcation Line that separates both countries
but retreated after South fired warning shots.
Two Koreas expected to hold high-level
meeting soon and recent actions by heavily militarized North are seen by the experts
as posturing to seek an advantage in often intricate dealings with wealthy
South.
