“President Aquino and Purisima
betrayed us” – this was the sentiment expressed by relieved Special Action
Force Chief Philippine National Police Director Getulio Napeñas during the
continued Mamasapano hearing incident last January 25, 2015 in Maguindanao.
Under the House of
Representatives questioning, Napeñas
lamented that many of his men felt that President Aquino and other military and
police officials abandoned and “betrayed” them as they perform their mission.
“Yes, your honor, that is my
opinion and feeling,” Ex-SAF Chief Napeñas told the congressmen.
“I and many of my men feel we
were left hanging because timely and effective support was not given to us in
the middle of the firefight in the morning of Jan. 25,” Napeñas respond to a
question Rep. Terry Ridon a Kabataan party-list.
Napeñas said that they repeatedly
ask for an artillery support from 7am to 1pm during the January 25 Mamasapano operation
“but none cam”.
Napeñas specifically mention
President Aquino and the suspended PNP Director Alan Purisima together with the
other high rank officials whom he claimed had betrayed them.
Former SAF commander said that
the repeated requests for a critical artillery support were relayed to these higher
officials but no action has been done.
